Summary: The Engineering Lead role involves leading the design, development, and delivery of scalable technology solutions while managing a high-performing engineering team. This position requires a blend of technical leadership, people management, and delivery accountability to align with business objectives. The role is based in London/Bristol and offers a hybrid working arrangement. It is a temporary contract expected to last over 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the technical architecture and design standards
- Drive solution design reviews and ensure scalability, resilience, and security
- Provide hands-on guidance on complex technical challenges
- Ensure adherence to engineering best practices (CI/CD, code quality, testing)
- Own end-to-end delivery of engineering solutions within agreed timelines
- Collaborate with Product Owners, BAs, and stakeholders to translate requirements into deliverables
- Manage backlog prioritisation and sprint execution
- Ensure quality through code reviews, testing, and DevOps practices
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers
- Drive performance management, coaching, and career growth
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture
- Support hiring, onboarding, and resource planning
- Act as a key interface between business and technical teams
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly
- Align engineering outcomes with business priorities and roadmap

- Promote innovation and modern engineering practices
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost optimisation
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in modern software development (eg, Java, .NET, APIs, Cloud)
- Expertise in architecture, integration, and system design

- Proven experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires experienced Engineering Lead to be based at their client's offices in London/Bristol.
This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the London/Bristol office 2 days per week.
