TRO Engineer Pay Rate: 22.18 per hour Location: Manchester Job Type: Full-time Join the Highways Service team at the Neighbourhoods Directorate, where you will play a crucial role as a TRO Engineer. This position involves providing technical expertise in the design, development, and implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and associated highway schemes. You will ensure compliance with statutory requirements and contribute to the Council’s strategic objectives for a safe and sustainable highway network. Day-to-day of the role: Prepare and process TROs in accordance with legislation and Council procedures. Develop designs for TRO-related schemes, including signage and road markings, ensuring compliance with design standards. Manage consultations and liaise with stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and elected members. Maintain accurate project documentation, including risk logs, financial monitoring, and progress reports. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety legislation. Support the delivery of work packages within project constraints of time, cost, and quality. Provide technical advice and resolve TRO-related queries. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure effective implementation. Promote continuous improvement and innovation in TRO processes. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in TRO processes and highway engineering. Knowledge of relevant legislation and design standards. Proficiency in CAD and TRO-specific software (e.g., Parkmap). Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, transport planning, or related discipline. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and adapt style to audience. Excellent planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
