Summary: The Engine Validation Engineer role involves working within a multi-skilled team to validate diesel engines and their components. Key responsibilities include mechanical verification, managing validation plans, and conducting failure analysis. The position requires collaboration with global teams and may involve occasional overseas travel. Candidates must possess relevant engineering qualifications and experience in engine validation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical verification and validation of diesel engines, components, and systems.
- Defining and managing engine, system, and component validation plans.
- Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test and analysis activity.
- Failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods.
- Technical reporting.
- Conducting all work to operating procedures and local work methods to meet compliance with quality standards.
- Support to the design function through the FMEA process.
- Collaboration with platform teams based at Stafford & Aurangabad facilities.
- Working closely with global Caterpillar facilities.
- Occasional overseas travel as required by business needs.
Key Skills:
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Experience in engine validation from diesel, petrol, or gas engine development.
- Experience in FMEA, validation plans definition, and work/test instructions.
- Familiarity with the 8D method and root cause analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems including fuel systems, cooling, turbocharging, and lubrication.
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., CANape, Osiris, etc.).
- Excellent organisation, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- PC literacy and excellent use of all MS Office components.
- High standard of written technical reporting.
