Summary: The Engine Test Engineer role involves testing and validating rail engines, transmission systems, powerpacks, and cooler groups. The position requires familiarity with diesel engines and electronic control systems, along with responsibilities such as installation, data recording, and mentoring trainees. The engineer will also diagnose faults and collaborate with production teams to ensure product quality. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical skills and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation into test cells and testing of production power products in line with work instructions
  • Ensure products meet testing requirements
  • Record accurate data for traceability
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation
  • Develop testing requirements for future products
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
  • Liaise with production on technical issues
  • Collaborate with colleagues and work as a team
  • Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable
  • Collect failure data and provide feedback to Engineering
  • Work overtime as required
  • Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental instructions
  • Take on other reasonable responsibilities within skills and abilities
  • Utilize computer-controlled test cells
