Summary: The Energy Management Engineer role at Bentley Motors in Crewe involves developing, integrating, and validating energy management hardware for automotive projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate, validate, and sign off on energy management hardware for all relevant projects.
- Manage and approve circuit diagrams, supporting the development of functions and networking between ECUs.
- Troubleshoot vehicle issues using diagnostic skills and provide solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical & Electronics, Whole Vehicle, Body & Trim, and Motion Engineering R&D departments.
- Introduce and validate platform changes as needed.
- Support part introductions, technical changes, and manage low voltage components and associated fixings.
- Provide vital information on energy management hardware to production, aftersales, logistics, purchasing, and project management teams.
- Manage suppliers and coordinate with VW group system engineers to ensure fully functional systems for future vehicles.
- Validate components according to functional sign-off requirements.
Key Skills:
- Component release and change management processes.
- CAD data and BOM management.
- Knowledge of vehicle energy management systems, including HV batteries, starter motors, alternators, DC/DC converters, and 12V battery technology.
- Understanding of medium (48V) and high voltage systems.
- Familiarity with 12V DC high power systems and vehicle in-circuit resistance.
- Knowledge of crash/failure modes for power delivery testing.
- Experience with CAN, Flexray, and LIN bus systems.
- Proficiency in Vector Tools and vehicle diagnostic tools (ODIS, IDEX) for root cause investigations.
- Strong electronic/electrical fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of software development and cross-functional collaboration.
- Engineering Degree or Higher Education certificate is preferred.
- German language skills are a plus.
