Position: Energy Data Scientist – Built Environment (KTP Associate)

The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a graduate to work full time on a 30-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop a property intelligence platform that integrates energy compliance, financial, and operational data to help landlords, investors, and regulators improve building performance, reduce emissions, and comply with energy efficiency regulations - supporting the UK's transition towards Net Zero targets.

Employed and supported by an academic team from the University, you will be based at Commercial Survey Reports Limited's premises in Bury. Commercial Survey Reports (CSR Sustain), headquartered in Bury with a base in London, are an SME established in 2008 who provide energy auditing, compliance, and optimisation services to the commercial property sector across the UK. Their focus is on enabling clients to improve operational efficiency, meet Minimum Energy Efficiency (MEES) regulatory standards, and advance towards Net Zero targets. Their client base includes commercial landlords, property managers, energy consultants, financial institutions, insurers, Real Estate Investment trusts, local authorities, and sustainability officers. Qualifications We Require

Hold, or be about to obtain, an Honours Degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification). Desirable – PhD or MSc Level qualifications in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or a complementary qualification, e.g. an MBA (Information Technology).

Knowledge/Skills

Application requirements: Programming languages (Python, R, NoSQL, etc) and data fusion approaches (Low/feature/decision level) and methods (Weighted averaging, Bayesian inference, Kalman filters). ML and AI approaches (correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and domain-driven feature creation, exact/fuzzy logic) and API development (RESTful,GraphQL, etc). Cloud and offline data storage solutions and the capability to create robust, efficient data architectures. Full lifecycle Data pipeline management. Data and information visualisation and User Interface design.

Attributes

Commitment to excellence with independent and collaborative problem-solving skills. Able to communicate complex technical information to non-experts and engage with stakeholders.

Experience

Industry experience in Data Science projects Knowledge/interest in the built environment and sustainability regulations (MEES, etc).
