Summary: The Employee Relations Consultant role is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Central London, focusing on managing and resolving a backlog of employee relations cases for a leading EdTech company. The position requires expertise in employee relations, with responsibilities evolving to include complex casework and policy improvement recommendations. The ideal candidate will possess strong HR management skills and a thorough understanding of UK employment law. This role offers hybrid working arrangements and the potential for contract extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of an existing backlog of ER cases, ensuring fair, compliant and efficient resolution.
- Provide expert advice, coaching and support to managers across all aspects of employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management.
- Manage complex and sensitive cases with professionalism and sound judgement.
- Analyse ER data and trends to identify recurring issues, risks, or opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and present clear, evidence-based recommendations to refine HR policies and processes.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues and business leaders to embed improved practices and strengthen people management capability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and promote a culture of fairness, inclusion, and accountability.
Key Skills:
- CIPD-qualified (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience managing a high volume of ER casework within a complex, fast-paced organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and best practice as well as preparing cases for ET.
- Excellent communicator with the confidence to influence and challenge at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and turn insights into practical recommendations.
- Organised, resilient and able to balance multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HR Manager , HR Business Partner , or Senior HR Advisor with strong employee relations expertise to join a forward-thinking, fast-growing organisation at an exciting stage of its evolution. The role will initially focus on managing and resolving a backlog of ER cases , ensuring consistent, fair and timely outcomes. Once the backlog is stabilised, you will move on to handling more complex and strategic ER casework , while drawing on your insights to identify trends and root causes. Using this knowledge, you will make recommendations for policy and process improvements , helping to strengthen employee engagement, management capability and organisational culture across the business.
