Summary: As a Lead Accountant at Burberry, you will oversee Record to Report (RTR) processes across multiple entities in the EMEIA region while managing a team of accountants. This role requires adherence to Group policies, IFRS, and local GAAP to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. You will also focus on improving processes and efficiencies within the finance team. The position is offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months, based in Leeds, working 3 to 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, checking and signing off RTR processes and activities while dealing with more technical and complex queries from across the EMEIA region
  • Working to month end processes and reporting deadlines, ensuring accuracy and precision with financial information to internal and external audiences
  • Reviewing and approving balance sheet reconciliations, journals, statutory accounts and VAT returns
  • Ensuring compliance with Group Policies, including operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Collaborating effectively across the business and the wider finance team, responding to internal stakeholders and ensuring timely resolution of any issues

Key Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification is required (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong technical background with experience applying IFRS or local accounting GAAP, ideally in corporate, international organisations
  • Worked within a multicurrency environment, analysing and understanding the impact of movements in exchange rates on reported results is desirable
  • Advanced Excel essential, experienced in building and working with complex models and large data sets
  • Appetite for delivering continuous improvement
  • Fluent in English (written & spoken) essential; any other European languages a plus

JOB PURPOSE

As a Lead Accountant at Burberry, you’ll be responsible overseeing our Record to Report (RTR) processes across a number of entities in the EMEIA region and managing an exceptional team of accountants. Working closely with the wider Burberry Finance team, you’ll work to Group policies, IFRS and local GAAP requirements to deliver our financial information, compliance and controls while improving our processes and efficiencies. This Lead Accountant role is offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 12 months, and is based in our Queen Street, Leeds office 3/4 days per week.
