Summary: The Embedded Software Engineer role focuses on developing innovative electrical power systems, particularly in converters and controllers, within a dynamic project team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead as the embedded technical authority within a small engineering team.
  • Design and develop DSP and microprocessor-based control solutions for power conversion and protection equipment.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and electronic engineers to refine requirements and define interfaces.
  • Build, test, and validate prototypes to ensure robust and compliant solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders to clarify and challenge requirements.
  • Support verification, validation, and qualification testing while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive re-use and standardisation across projects to maximise efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • BEng/MEng or MSc/PhD in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, or Software Engineering.
  • Proven background in delivering embedded software/firmware in regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and/or Python for microcontrollers.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems operation and ideally DSPs.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink code generation.
  • Team player mindset with problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Systems testing and validation experience.
  • Familiarity with power systems and related applications.
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, Polarion).
  • Hands-on experience with Agile practices (sprints, scrums, Jira).

The Role: Are you an embedded controls specialist with a passion for tackling complex engineering challenges? We’re looking for a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic project team on a contract basis. You’ll be the go-to expert driving the design, implementation, and verification of cutting-edge embedded software applications across multiple high-profile programmes.

What are we looking for in our next Embedded Software Engineer?

  • Take the lead as the embedded technical authority within a small but impactful engineering team, developing innovative electrical power systems (with a focus on converters and controllers).
