Summary: We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Architect to contribute to a leading technology project focused on safety-critical systems. This hands-on contract role demands extensive technical expertise and a commitment to collaboration in a hybrid working environment. The position requires active SC clearance prior to starting. The contract duration is six months with a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop embedded software for safety-critical systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
- Produce clear and accurate technical documentation.
- Implement high integrity coding practices including unit testing and static analysis.
- Utilize software frameworks, languages, and toolchains effectively.
- Conduct Software FMEA and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Key Skills:
- A minimum of 8 years' software engineering experience.
- Strong background in large, distributed systems design.
- Professional experience in C/C++ and Java.
- Experience in safety-critical environments (IEC 61508, IEC 62304, IEC 26262).
- Strong working knowledge of software frameworks, languages, and toolchains.
- Understanding and practical use of Software FMEA.
- High integrity coding practices including unit testing, static analysis, and lifecycle methodologies.
- Proven ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation.
- UML and modelling techniques (nice to have).
- Defence sector experience (nice to have).
- Exposure to virtualisation and containerisation technologies (nice to have).
- Familiarity with Atlassian toolset (nice to have).
- Understanding of IP networking protocols (nice to have).
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and JFROG Artifactory (nice to have).
