Summary: The role of Contractor Electronics Design Engineer involves working for 6 months in Dundee, Scotland, focusing on the design, evaluation, testing, and support of devices for self-service products like ATMs. The position requires extensive software and firmware design experience with electro/mechanical systems and participation in all stages of the electronics development process. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test embedded microprocessor, microcontroller, and FPGA based PCB assemblies.
- Design, develop and document electronic modules and systems.
- Conduct digital and analogue electronics design.
- Perform schematic capture (Cadence Allegro experience preferred but not essential).
- Create test specifications and reports.
- Utilize DC stepper motor control knowledge and experience.
- Apply sensor technology knowledge.
- Implement switch mode power supply knowledge.
- Understand PCB layout.
- Debug hardware to component level.
- Conduct hardware unit tests and systems testing.
- Provide estimates of effort, schedule, and size of change to Project Manager.
- Report regularly on schedule, quality & size of change.
Key Skills:
- A Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related engineering degree.
- At least 5-7 years of work experience in a related position.
- Ability to understand documentation and work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with USB Devices Design for EMC compliance.
- Ability to work with suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

Contractor Electronics Design Engineer 6 months Dundee, Scotland (hybrid) This contract is to work initially for 6 months as part of a small team in Dundee in the design, evaluation, test and support of devices used in self-service products such as ATMs (Auto-Teller Machines for the Banking Industry). A key requirement is to have several years’ software/firmware design experience with of electro/mechanical systems operating under software or firmware command & control. As a team member, you will be expected to follow a defined electronics development process playing an active role in all stages of the development from the initial concept through design definition, prototype build, functional design specifications and support qualification stages.
