Summary: The role of Maintenance Electrician at HMP Holme House involves performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance, diagnosing and replacing electrical components, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The position requires active problem-solving on domestic electrical systems and participation in an on-call rota after settling into the role. This opportunity may lead to permanent positions within the prison service. The role is based in Stockton-on-Tees and requires working some weekends on a rota basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
- Diagnose and replace failed domestic electrical components.
- Respond to breakdowns and ensure compliance with Safe System of Work.
- Fault-find and problem-solve on domestic electrical systems.
- Undertake electrical installation activities according to design and IET Wiring Regulations.
- Test and inspect electrical installations per current IEE wiring regulations.
- Monitor and order critical spares for electrical services.
- Participate in the on-call rota after settling into the role.
Key Skills:
- Technical qualifications such as City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above.
- Knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations (18th or 19th Edition).
- Experience with Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Capability to pass full prison security clearance and enhanced DBS.
- Valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence.
- Proof of National Insurance and proof of address dated within the last 3 months.
- Ability to provide at least 2 satisfactory employment references.
