Summary: We are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer with expertise in water treatment and MEICA systems to join our engineering team. The role involves leading electrical design and engineering for critical water infrastructure projects that positively impact communities and the environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, project management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. This position offers an opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design and engineering activities for water treatment and wastewater projects
- Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and instrumentation diagrams
- Specify and select electrical equipment including motors, drives, switchgear, and control systems
- Design and implement SCADA systems and HMI interfaces for water treatment processes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and civil engineers
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Conduct site surveys, factory acceptance tests, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with water industry standards, electrical regulations, and health & safety requirements
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout project lifecycle
- Mentor junior engineers and support business development activities
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in electrical engineering within the water/wastewater sector
- Strong knowledge of MEICA systems and water treatment processes
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar)
- Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent)
- Understanding of UK electrical standards (BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations)
- Knowledge of water industry standards (AMP framework, UKWIR guidelines)
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership
- Full UK driving licence
