Summary: The role of Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, with an electrical bias, involves performing both reactive and planned maintenance in a manufacturing environment, specifically within the food processing sector. The engineer will work on high-speed production and packaging machinery, focusing on fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is based in Somerset and operates on a day shift schedule. Candidates must possess relevant electrical and mechanical skills, ideally with experience in the food or FMCG industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Work on high-speed food process, production, and packaging machinery.
- Perform fault finding and repair work on industrial plant equipment and site services.
- Conduct mechanical repairs on conveyors, drives, shafts, pumps, and compressors.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture with lean manufacturing principles.
- Engage in electrical and mechanical fault finding and planned maintenance.
- Participate in project work including machinery upgrades and new installations.
- Work with fillers, labellers, palletisers, sealers, pneumatics, PLCs, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, power presses, printers, and forming machines.
Key Skills:
- Electrically biased maintenance engineer.
- Time-served apprenticeship with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Engineering.
- Practical experience in a food, FMCG, or packaging environment.
- PLC electrical fault-finding skills.
- Comfortable with large mechanical work, fault finding, and repair.
- Able to perform both electrical and mechanical fault finding.
- Experience with industrial mechanical systems.
- Ability to work on pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, and gearboxes.
