Summary: The Electrical Engineer role at bp focuses on the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the UK, contributing to the company's transition from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy Company. The position involves overseeing engineering delivery, providing technical support to installation contractors, and ensuring quality and timely project execution. The engineer will play a crucial role in developing standard design models and managing risks associated with EV charging projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver EV charge points in the UK as part of BP Pulse targets.
- Support the Engineering Team Lead in creating standard design models and quality design products.
- Provide engineering assurance through technical reviews of contractor design deliverables.
- Support teams during site appraisal, network planning, procurement, installation, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage risks associated with projects and anticipate future standards and technology.
- Support continuous improvement of technical practices and processes.
- Maintain project timelines and budgets while ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Capture lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement in EV deployments.
- Contribute to negotiations with DNO/DSO and TSO.
Key Skills:
- Electrical Design Experience of HV and LV projects.
- Technical and engineering rollout experience in the EV field.
- Strong track record in engineering delivery and project management.
- Understanding of industry standards and protocols.
- Experience supervising work delivered through EPC contractors.
- Strong technical review skills of 3rd party design documents.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Desirable experience in hydrocarbon forecourts and large-scale engineering projects.
- Knowledge of EV charging technology and grid access constraints.
- Experience working with DNOs, EPCs, ICPs, or Consultancies.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent (or working towards it).
- Understanding of compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations: 2015.
