Overview
The Electrical Engineer will support construction activities within the Submarine Refit Complex, ensuring quality standards are achieved throughout installation, inspection, and commissioning activities.
The role focuses on electrical systems and provides technical support to project and construction teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality of electrical installation and commissioning activities on site.
- Provide technical advice and support to construction teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Assist in resolving site issues and responding to technical queries.
- Ensure contractors comply with approved scopes of work and change requests.
- Undertake and record inspections to verify compliance with project requirements and test plans.
- Support the development of technical solutions to construction and installation challenges.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- Share lessons learned and best practices to improve engineering performance.
- Support the construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities in accordance with design intent and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct on-site inspections of assets during construction, maintenance, and modification activities.
Stakeholder Management
The role works closely with: Project and Construction Managers, Design and Safety Engineers, Operations and Integration Teams, Plant Managers and Technical Authorities, Internal Engineering Teams across multiple disciplines, External suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in an Electrical or Engineering discipline.
- Experience resolving complex electrical issues during construction projects.
- Knowledge of electrical building services, including: Fire detection and alarm systems, Industrial and emergency lighting, Public address systems, HVAC systems.
- Understanding of health & safety, quality, and engineering processes.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Desirable Nuclear, marine, defence, or highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience supporting construction, refit, maintenance, or commissioning projects.
- Knowledge of submarine or major infrastructure environments.
