Summary: The Electrical Engineer role involves assisting the Discipline Lead in delivering electrical engineering work packages within the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit. The position requires preparation and review of designs and technical solutions for both Nuclear and Non-Nuclear projects, while supervising junior staff and ensuring adherence to quality and cost standards. The role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence in either Bristol or Plymouth. The position is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and/or checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents for Nuclear and Non-Nuclear projects.
  • Participating in problem-solving for technical solutions and new designs.
  • Supporting the review of new designs and construction methodologies submitted to the Technical Authority.
  • Planning activities regarding task durations, effort levels, and estimated costs, while providing design deliverables and progress reports.
  • Supervising and guiding junior staff on-the-job.
  • Utilizing Learn from Experience information to enhance theoretical knowledge and maintain a record of skill development.

Key Skills:

  • Design of electrical building services, including fire detection, industrial lighting, site broadcast, and HVAC.
  • Knowledge and skills in technical management of complex design development throughout the lifecycle.
  • Ability to provide expert advice to sub-contracted design houses.
  • Understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the discipline.
  • Experience in regulated industries, particularly civil nuclear or highly regulated defense sectors.
