Summary: The Electrical Engineer role involves maintaining the electrical infrastructure at a prestigious university in East-Central London. The successful candidate will ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with industry regulations through maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of the university estate, supporting both students and staff. The role is long-term temporary with specific working hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and electrical repairs across campus buildings
- Inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Carrying out installation and upgrade work on electrical components and systems
- Ensuring health and safety standards and regulations are strictly followed
- Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Collaborating with other maintenance and facilities teams to ensure smooth operations
Key Skills:
- Recognised electrical qualifications (such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365/2382, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in an electrical maintenance role, ideally within large commercial or educational facilities
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution boards, wiring, and emergency lighting
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations, including BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve faults independently and work efficiently within a team
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
