Summary: The Electrical Engineer role at bp focuses on the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, contributing to the company's transition from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy Company. The position involves overseeing engineering delivery, providing technical support to installation contractors, and ensuring quality and timely project execution. This role is crucial in establishing a robust EV charging network in the UK, addressing both brownfield and greenfield challenges. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver EV charge points in the UK aligned with BP Pulse targets.
- Support the Engineering Team Lead in creating and deploying standard design models.
- Provide engineering assurance through technical reviews of contractor design deliverables.
- Assist teams during site appraisal, network planning, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Support risk management processes on projects.
- Anticipate future standards and technology to optimize project efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of technical practices and processes.
- Maintain project timelines and budgets while ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Alert Project Manager and Engineering Team Lead of identified risks.
- Capture lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement in EV deployments.
- Support interactions or negotiations with DNO/DSO and TSO.
Key Skills:
- Electrical Design Experience of HV and LV projects.
- Technical and engineering rollout experience in the EV field.
- Strong track record in engineering delivery and complex project management.
- Understanding of industry standards and protocols.
- Experience supervising work delivered through EPC contractors.
- Proficient in performing technical reviews of 3rd party design documents.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Desirable: Experience in hydrocarbon forecourts and large-scale engineering projects.
- Sound knowledge of EV charging technology and network integration.
- Understanding of grid access constraints and LV/MV/HV connections.
- Experience with DNOs, EPCs, ICPs, or Consultancies.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent (or working towards it).
- Understanding of compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations: 2015.
