Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer role involves supporting the Council's Housing and Property Services team by delivering compliance-focused projects and capital improvements across various Council-owned buildings. The position requires collaboration with a Mechanical Design Engineer to manage electrical and mechanical design packages, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of technical deliverables. The successful candidate will also coordinate with external consultants and conduct site inspections as part of their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the internal design function within the Housing and Property Services team.
- Collaborate with the Mechanical Design Engineer on electrical and mechanical engineering design packages.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective completion of technical deliverables, including condition assessments and engineering drawings.
- Adhere to regulatory, budgetary, and quality standards in all work.
- Coordinate with external consultants and produce reports on existing infrastructure conditions.
- Draft project briefs for specialist contractors as part of the tender process.
- Conduct physical site inspections and travel to various sites as required.
- Utilize design and modelling tools such as Auto CAD, Rev it, Hevacomp, and IES.
Key Skills:
- Relevant experience in building services design.
- Working knowledge of the RIBA project stages (0-7).
- Ability to prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with design and modelling tools (Auto CAD, Rev it, Hevacomp, IES).
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Experience in producing reports and project briefs.
