Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer role based in Leeds involves working within the water industry, specifically on wastewater treatment projects for Yorkshire Water. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ascertaining clients' requirements through site visits and specification documents.

  • Promoting innovation and cost-effectiveness in design activities.
  • Providing outline and detailed engineering from inception to completion of schemes.
  • Coordinating design production among in-house teams, external companies, suppliers, and clients.
  • Ensuring design work is completed within agreed programmes, budgets, and KPIs.
  • Liaising with clients' engineering staff for design approvals.
  • Attending design reviews and progress meetings.

Key Skills:

  • ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent in a relevant field.

Role: Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Leeds (Hybrid working)

Pay: Up To £400 per day - LTD Company/Outside IR35

Duration: On-going minimum 12 months.

the business we are working with, a leading contractor covering the full range of MEICA services from design to installation and maintenance within the water industry are currently looking for an Electrical Design Engineer with water industry experience to complete their team in Yorkshire Water.

The successful Electrical Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to projects relating to the Yorkshire Water complex Wastewater non-infrastructure framework for AMP8.

Please note experience with UK water experience on any UK water authority is essential.

Candidates can expect to work on a variety of upgrade schemes, averaging the £2m mark and up to £30m. Schemes include chemical dosing, Sludge tanks, green recovery and much more.

Candidates must have recent experience in the water sector and understanding of the electrical side of non-infra projects ideally in both clean and waste water.

Responsibilities:

  • Ascertaining Clients requirements either through reference to their specification documents or more likely through visiting sites with their nominated personnel. A key requirement is the ability to determine the actual operational requirement and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Working alongside the Design Manager/senior designer (team lead) and where applicable the Project Manager to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • To promote innovation and challenge parties involved to ensure cost effectiveness in all design activities.
  • To provide outline and detailed engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising our design partners, individual knowledge, site installation and construction personnel.
  • To closely coordinate design production between the companies in house design teams, external design companies, our suppliers and subcontractors and where applicable our clients designers.
  • To ensure all design work is completed to agreed programmes, financial budgets and KPI's.
  • Liaison with client's engineering staff or where applicable their design consultants to ensure designs are approved In accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract.
  • Attend internal and external design reviews and where applicable progress meetings

Skills and experience:

  • An industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
  • Water experience with a contractor or consultancy ideal.
  • Experience and understanding of water and sewage treatment processes
  • Commercial and contractual awareness
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
