Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer role is a long-term contract position based in Manchester, focusing on delivering large-scale, mission-critical projects. The engineer will engage in the full project lifecycle, supporting both design and construction phases in a dynamic environment. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and experience in electrical design within building services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of electrical systems for large mission critical projects, including LV Distribution, UPS systems and generator systems
- Production of electrical schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Carry out electrical design calculations using Amtech (or similar)
- Support lighting design using Dialux (desirable)
- Prepare technical specifications and engineering reports
- Attend design meetings and coordinate with internal and external teams
- Support construction activities including site inspections and commissioning
- Liaise with subcontractors and procurement teams
- Review technical aspects of purchase orders
- Provide technical support throughout installation and project delivery
Key Skills:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Experience in electrical design within building services (experience on mission critical projects advantageous but not essential)
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred
- Amtech experience beneficial
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines
- Based within commutable distance of Manchester with full UK working rights
