Summary: The Electrical Appointed Person will oversee electrical operations on highways and motorway projects, focusing on circuit isolations and compliance with safety protocols. The role requires managing project documentation and collaborating with project leads to ensure effective execution. Candidates should possess a strong background in electrical works within the highways sector, including testing and inspections. This position offers a chance to contribute to critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and document chartered and unchartered services within the project area.
  • Carry out circuit disconnection and isolation safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and issue Dynamic Risk Assessments (RAMS), Permits to Work (PTW), Isolation & Re-energisation Certificates.
  • Maintain and update Live Tracker Drawings to reflect changes accurately.
  • Collaborate with the Project Technology Lead to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide updates during weekly programme meetings.
  • Investigate, verify, and safely cut and remove unidentified or redundant services, ensuring documentation is up to date.
  • Support the removal of redundant cabling from the network.
  • Install, reinstate, terminate, and test cabling, issuing re-energisation and test certificates as required.

Key Skills:

  • Valid HERS Electrician Card.
  • Demonstrated experience in Testing & Inspection on National Highways Schemes.
  • Strong understanding of line and as-fitted drawings.
  • Proficiency in interpreting schematic drawings of technology assets.
  • Knowledge of PAS 128 survey standards and associated pre-work requirements.
  • Experience in writing Dynamic Risk Assessments, Activity Plans, and Permits to Work.
  • Possession of a National Highways Passport.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and oversee contractor operations.
  • Valid Underground Services Location Qualification (CAT & Genny) with practical experience in underground service detection.
