Summary: The eFX Application Support Specialist role at a prestigious Global Investment Bank involves providing technical support for eFX systems to a global user base while managing critical infrastructure projects. The position requires collaboration with business users, development teams, and senior IT management, emphasizing strong technical skills and a solid understanding of financial markets, particularly FX. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IT for capital markets and a client-focused approach, working under pressure on a trading floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for eFX systems to both internal and external global users.
- Coordinate with core teams including Infrastructure, Business, and Development.
- Manage over 250+ Servers, ensuring the eFX production infrastructure is supported, scalable, and stable.
- Handle large projects such as data centre moves and migrations.
- Conduct infrastructure capacity management including Disk/CPU/Memory considerations and future planning.
- Coordinate hardware and software obsolescence programs.
- Plan and execute BCP (Business Continuity Planning) and DRP (Disaster Recovery Planning).
- Manage changes and releases, using tools like ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence/Wiki.
- Monitor and edit systems using ITRS/Geneos and maintain network knowledge covering Colo/WAN, Firewalls, Switches, and load balancers.
- Develop and script as needed in languages such as C, C#, Java, Python, Bash Scripting, and Windows PowerShell.
- Navigate, file copy, view, edit, and control processes and networks on Windows Server and Linux platforms.
Key Skills:
- General understanding of financial markets and products, particularly FX.
- Extensive experience in IT for capital markets, supporting mission-critical applications and/or infrastructure.
- Strong experience providing technical support for FX or Fixed Income Desks within an Investment Bank.
- Proficient in application administration, Windows/UNIX administration, and understanding of IT architecture.
- Strong client focus, ability to work under pressure on a Trading Floor, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
