Summary: The EDS CAD Electrical Installation Designer role involves the comprehensive electrical design of integration systems, utilizing 3D CAD tools and ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams to develop and maintain CAD data and drawings, while also supporting the physical validation of designs. Candidates must have a strong background in electrical design and experience with CAD software, particularly UG NX. This is a contract position based in Milton Keynes with hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end electrical design of integration of electrical systems.
- Systems Engineering including requirements capture, problem solving, and electrical architecture.
- Detail design using 3D CAD for concept schemes, cable routing, and component placement.
- Creation of 2D electrical circuits, schematics, and documentation.
- Production of manufacturing drawings, build lists, and wiring instructions.
- Physical validation of designed systems and support during build phases.
- Management of CAD data and drawings using UG NX.
- Development of personal systems for performance and efficiency.
- Maintaining best practices in CAD drawing generation.
- Extensive experience with NX and Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Key Skills:
- 3D CAD design experience, particularly with UG NX.
- Experience in electrical packaging design and EDS routing.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical distribution systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Essential Criteria:
- The role encapsulates the end-to-end electrical design of the integration of electrical systems.
- Systems Engineering - Capturing and understanding the requirements, blue sky thinking, problem solving, electrical architecture, componentry selection, layout, and feasibility.
- Detail design - 3D CAD - Concept schemes, packaging, routing cables, clipping, component placement etc.
- 2D electrical circuits - Schematics, logical architecture, wire gauge calcs, fusing, electrical functionality, I/O documentation, simulation etc.
- 2D manufacturing - Drawings, build lists, wiring instructions, BOM, supplier selection, costings, planning capture.
- Support - Physically validate the system, parts they have designed, support build, snag correction, fault investigation, easements, cost-downs, reworks instructions, reporting.

- Liaise with engineering in the control and generation of CAD UG NX data and drawings.
- Develop personal systems for optimum performance and efficiency.

Nice to Have Criteria:
- To have a clear understanding of CAD and UG NX systems at customer site.
- To maintain and control all CAD records and data in the support of project related work.
- Maintain drawing controls to TS16949-2002 standard and advise best practice.
- Co-ordinate drawing changes and requirements for customer
- Design and model components, system installations to customer satisfaction.
- Manage, document and control time, workload.
- To ensure customer confidentiality at all times.
- To work at customer location in the support of 2D, 3D product data generation as and when required.
- To have a clear understanding of automotive electrical distribution systems, drawings and awareness of best in class systems that are available.
- Control, record and implement engineering changes to harness drawings.
- Produce bill of materials and listings in support of other departments.
