Summary: The role of EC&I Designer involves supporting Lead and Senior Engineers in delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design work for EPCM or EPC projects, particularly within the Gas Transmission Major Project Programme. This position is based in Birchwood, Warrington, on a 12-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will produce high-quality designs and ensure adherence to company standards while engaging in technical discussions with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lead and Senior Engineers in delivering EC&I designs in line with project budgets and schedules.
  • Produce high-quality EC&I designs for both standalone and integrated multi-discipline projects.
  • Be accountable for the quality and accuracy of EC&I design deliverables.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews as required.
  • Identify changes to design scope and report them to the Lead and/or Senior Engineer; support the management of change process.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to company design standards and procedures.
  • Check and verify EC&I design deliverables depending on your level of experience.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in EC&I design within large infrastructure projects, ideally within the gas transmission sector.
  • Strong understanding of design processes, project stages, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
  • Effective communicator, capable of engaging in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.

The opportunity

Our client is currently recruiting for an experienced EC&I Designer to join a leading engineering consultancy on a 12-month contract, working 40 hours per week under a hybrid working arrangement.

The role

As an EC&I Designer, you will support the Lead and Senior Engineers in delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design work on single or multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects, primarily within the Gas Transmission Major Project Programme. The projects typically involve the UK compressor station infrastructure and range from Concept Design (BP135G) through to Execution Design (T/PM/G/35). This role will be based in Birchwood, Warrington on a 12 month Contract Working Hours: 40 hours per week Hybrid (office and remote)

Rate: £45.00 - £50.00 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) or PAYE equivalent

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Support the Lead and Senior Engineers in delivering EC&I designs in line with project budgets and schedules.
  • Produce high-quality EC&I designs for both standalone and integrated multi-discipline projects.
  • Be accountable for the quality and accuracy of EC&I design deliverables.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews as required.
  • Depending on project complexity and scale, you may be the designated EC&I Designer for one or more projects.
  • Identify changes to design scope and report them to the Lead and/or Senior Engineer; support the management of change process.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to company design standards and procedures.
  • Where appropriate, check and verify EC&I design deliverables depending on your level of experience.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

  • Proven experience in EC&I design within large infrastructure projects, ideally within the gas transmission sector.
  • Strong understanding of design processes, project stages, and industry regulations.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
