Early Careers and Volume Talent Acquisition Consultant

Posted 1 week ago by The National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society Limited

About the role

Our Early Careers & Campaigns team plays an important role in building NFU Mutual's future talent pipeline. From graduate schemes and internships to apprenticeships, trainee programmes and volume recruitment campaigns, we partner with the business to attract, assess and hire talented people who will shape the future of our organisation. Taking a skills-based approach to hiring, we look beyond experience to identify potential and help people develop rewarding careers with us.

As a Talent Acquisition Consultant, you'll lead a varied portfolio of early careers and recruitment campaigns, owning the end-to-end process from planning through to hire. You'll design attraction strategies, manage candidate pipelines, coordinate assessment and selection activity, and support successful onboarding into our programmes.

Working with a wide range of business areas, you'll balance long-term planning with the agility to respond to changing recruitment needs while delivering an excellent experience for candidates, assessors and hiring managers.

Many of our campaigns work towards fixed cohort start dates, so success in this role comes from strong organisation, proactive planning and the ability to bring people together around a shared goal. You'll manage multiple priorities, identify risks early and keep stakeholders informed and engaged to ensure campaigns remain on track.

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment campaigns across a variety of early careers and volume hiring programmes
  • Partner with hiring managers and HR colleagues to design recruitment and attraction plans that meet business needs
  • Build engaging attraction campaigns using a range of channels, including social media, partnerships, events and direct sourcing activities
  • Screen and assess candidates through application reviews, online assessments, introductory conversations and structured selection processes
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate in-person assessment centres, interviews and recruitment events
  • Manage candidate pipelines, monitoring progress and taking proactive action to ensure campaigns remain on track
  • Coordinate and brief assessors, ensuring selection decisions are fair, robust and aligned to our inclusive recruitment approach
  • Lead calibration and selection discussions, providing insight and challenge where appropriate
  • Deliver an exceptional candidate experience through clear communication, support and engagement at every stage of the process
  • Use recruitment data and market insights to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Champion diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the recruitment lifecycle

About you

You'll be someone who enjoys bringing people together, building trusted relationships and delivering great outcomes. You'll be highly organised, naturally proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities, all while ensuring candidates and stakeholders have a positive experience.

You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two campaigns are the same, using sound judgement, strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to keep recruitment activity moving forward and on track.

You'll bring:

  • End-to-end recruitment experience - Experience managing the full recruitment lifecycle, ideally within in-house early careers, campaign or volume recruitment environments.
  • Organisation and planning - Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, milestones and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring activity is delivered to agreed timescales.
  • Adaptability and resilience - The ability to respond positively to changing priorities, campaign demands and business needs, while maintaining a high-quality service.
  • Stakeholder management - Confidence in building effective relationships with hiring managers, assessors, candidates and HR colleagues, balancing different priorities and managing expectations throughout the recruitment process.
  • Candidate engagement and customer focus - A passion for creating positive candidate experiences, providing clear communication, support and guidance throughout the recruitment journey.
  • Collaboration - A collaborative approach, working closely with colleagues and partners to coordinate activity, share expertise and achieve successful hiring outcomes.
  • Judgement and decision making - The ability to analyse information, challenge constructively and support fair, evidence-based hiring decisions aligned to agreed selection criteria.
  • Process-led and compliance focused - A structured approach to recruitment, with an understanding of the importance of governance, consistency, data accuracy and fair selection practices.
  • Recruitment systems and technology - Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruitment technologies to manage vacancies, candidate pipelines and recruitment activity effectively.
  • UK employment legislation knowledge - Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and recruitment best practice, including equal opportunities, fair selection and inclusive hiring principles.
