Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of patient safety, quality improvement, and governance activities across the Division.
  • Coordinate and support investigations of clinical incidents, ensuring learning is identified and shared.
  • Monitor and maintain divisional risk registers and support the escalation and management of identified risks.
  • Analyse and report on quality indicators including incidents, complaints, audits, and performance metrics.

Key Skills:

  • Degree level qualification and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.

  • Successful change management in the healthcare setting.
  • Experience of writing reports and investigations.

Job Summary This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. This role is central to supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care across the Division. The post holder will lead and coordinate a wide range of quality governance and patient safety activities, including incident investigations, risk management, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Working closely with the Divisional Senior Team and clinical services, the role focuses on analysing data, monitoring quality performance, and ensuring that learning from incidents, audits, and feedback is translated into meaningful improvements in practice. We are looking for a proactive and analytical individual with strong organisational and communication skills who is passionate about improving patient safety and service quality. The successful candidate will be able to interpret complex information, influence and support clinical teams, and build strong working relationships across the organisation. Job Description Job responsibilities Support the implementation and delivery of the Trusts Quality Governance and Risk Management strategies within the Division. Coordinate and provide expert advice on the investigation of clinical and non-clinical incidents, ensuring they are completed within required timescales and in line with Trust policy. Monitor and maintain divisional risk registers, supporting services to identify, review, and escalate risks appropriately. Analyse and interpret quality governance data including incidents, complaints, clinical audits, and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Develop and maintain quality governance dashboards, reporting tools, and monitoring systems to support oversight of patient safety and service quality. Prepare and present governance reports, risk summaries, and action plans for divisional boards, committees, and senior management meetings. Support the delivery and coordination of clinical audits and the implementation of national guidance, standards, and recommendations. Ensure learning from incidents, complaints, audits, and external inspections is shared across the Division and translated into improvements in practice. Support the development and monitoring of action plans to address risks, quality concerns, and regulatory requirements. Facilitate governance meetings and support the Divisional Senior Team with agenda planning, action tracking, and progress monitoring. Provide advice, training, and coaching to staff on patient safety, incident reporting, complaints management, and quality improvement methodologies. Support the Division in preparing for and responding to external inspections and regulatory reviews.

Key Relationships - The post holder will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation, including: Divisional Director of Nursing and Divisional Senior Leadership Team Clinical Directors, Matrons, Service Leads, and Clinical Teams Central Quality Governance, Risk Management, and Patient Safety Teams Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Team Complaints and Patient Experience Teams Corporate Governance and Policy Teams External stakeholders including regulatory bodies and partner organisations where required.
