Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the day-to-day running of the hospital with support from senior medical and nursing staff.

Reporting to the IHC Operations Director, the post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day operational delivery of clinical services on the hospital site. The post holder will ensure the hospital’s service align with the Integrated Health Community’s overall plan to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and cost effective care. Key drivers for success in the role are the attainment of national and local access and quality standards, robust financial management, and the development of services to ensure their long term sustainability for the benefit of the local population. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Acute Site Operations Director co-ordinates the day-to-day running of the hospital, supported by two Associate Medical Directors, an Associate Director or Nursing and the Directorate Triumvirates (Directorate General Manager, Clinical Director and Head of Nursing.) The highest priority is ensuring safe and timely care for patients and service users, whether presenting via a planned or unscheduled care pathway. The post holder, through the line management of the Directorate General Managers, is responsible for the development of service and improvement plans and all key performance and activity targets, and is expected to embed robust and consistent financial and people management processes. The Acute Site Operations Director is responsible through the IHC Leadership Team for ensuring that the overall business of the hospital site is managed safely, effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the strategic and operational objectives of the IHC. This includes working with senior colleagues on site to ensure that all services are delivered to the highest standards, and that governance systems and processes are in place and adhered to. The postholder will provide strong and visible leadership on site, and put in place systems to receive and act upon concerns from patients, staff and other stakeholders.

The post holder will participate in the regular IHC Accountability Review with each of the Directorate teams, and ensure that effective systems are in place to oversee the integrated governance and risk management process, ensuring that all Directorates work pro-actively with all the IHC Local Delivery Groups. These cover Quality & Safety, Transformation, People & Culture and Finance, Performance & Planning. The post holder will be highly adept in assessing complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation, or comparison of a range of options before arriving at potentially far reaching decisions. The post holder will be able to analyse delivery across all areas of the business in relation to performance targets and strategic objectives, and analyse information from different sources to develop strategies and business plans, coming to a balanced opinion weighing up all the facts in areas where expert opinion differs. As a senior leader, acts as an ambassador of the organisation at all times to ensure that professional standards are maintained. Participates in the Health Board’s Silver on Call and System Lead rotas. Acts as a driver for equality, diversity and inclusion within the IHC, ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
