Director- Groundworks/Civil Engineering

I have been asked to find a new Director for one of my clients in the Midlands.

My client operates in groundworks and Civil Engineering for both the commercial and infrastructure sectors.

Projects vary from £1 m to £30 m and encompass earthworks/groundworks/concrete- this is basically anything up to ground level-they stop once they get to the structures stage,

On offer there is around 150-175 k plus a substantial package- this is a base figure and there is plenty of room for negotiation dependent on experience and work winning potential.

My client is a long established and very successful specialist. Their area of operation is Birmingham and the surrounding area and both the West and East Midlands. It would be advantageous if you are based in the Midlands.

You’ll be the lead Director in the business and will be responsible for all groundworks and Civil Engineering activities. You'll need a track record of success at a senior level- ideally number 1 in the contractor you have worked with.

You could come from an operational or commercial background as will be responsible for both aspects of the business

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Overseeing the logistical requirements of all projects within their business
• Appointing and delegating work to senior colleagues and their teams
• Meeting regularly with clients, third parties and managers to report on progress and future plans
• Setting targets, objectives and responsibilities for all staff
• Regularly review timings, budget, labour, risk and project plans to ensure work stays on track as regards the aforementioned
• Reporting to clients and board members on project progress
• Supplying financial records in association with the Commercial teams
• Recommending policy and procedure improvements
• Monitoring performance against the agreed company standards
• Ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled
• Ensuring the delivery of high-quality work within contract timescales
• Dealing with contract disputes and mitigating the impact of any issues
• Working both in an office and on site.

Timescale wise, my client is happy to wait for the right candidate so the start date is based on when the recruitment process is complete.
