DIO - Security Technicians - Security Services Group

Summary: The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is seeking a motivated Security Technician to join its Security Services Group (SSG) in Scotland, primarily working from home and traveling to various government and military sites. The role involves providing high-assurance security solutions, including installation and maintenance of advanced security systems. Candidates will serve as the key point of contact for customers, participate in an on-call rota, and ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines. Specific training will be provided for various security systems used in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the key point of contact for customers on a day-to-day basis.
• Attend to maintenance and installation enquiries during core hours.
• Participate in an on-call rota to provide 24-hour emergency cover.
• Conduct checks and audits on customer systems.
• Accurately estimate costs of materials and labour for minor works.
• Order materials from suppliers and provide equipment lists to the Project Manager.
• Provide technical assistance and build solutions to technical problems.
• Undertake trade supervision for subcontractors.
• Ensure accurate job-related administration and timely reporting.
• Adhere to work-related and site-related health and safety guidelines.

Key Skills:

• HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electronic Security Systems or equivalent.
• ONC/OND in Electronic Security Systems or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence (maximum of six points).
• Experience in electronic security installation.
• Ability to provide technical assistance and solve design problems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to security systems.
• Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Engineering Council, Security Institute) is desirable.
