Role: Digital Learning Designer/Developer

Location: Reading, Berkshire (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 months

Client: Global Pharmaceutical Company

We are seeking a Digital Learning Designer/Developer on an initial 12-month external contract who will be directly responsible for Designing, Developing and Delivering digital learning assets for the company's Digital Learning Development (DLD) function. Digital Learning Development is a multi-disciplinary team, serving the needs of Global Pharmaceutical, Quality and Commercialization learning academies.

This will be achieved by:

  • Leading the instructional design framework and either independently executing project development or coordinating designated resources for technical programming, coding, art direction, and testing of Digital Learning & Communication materials across Pharma R&D, CMO QSM, and Global Commercialization FOX L&D learning academies.

Scope (global, regional or local): Global

The incumbent’s direct deliverables are relevant to all Pharma R&D, CMO QSM, and Global Commercialization FOX L&D learning academies, as well as interface functions. These deliverables also extend to more than 50 countries operating locations, reaching over 10,000 users.

Operational qualification training is vital for risk management, compliance, and operational licensing. Effective learning events boost capabilities and enhance performance, efficiency, productivity, and compliance across PH R&D and the wider organization.

Key Tasks:

  • Serve as an expert design consultant and driver, applying digital learning strategies and technical design methods while playing a key role or co-leading Global Learning Event Development teams and contributing to the R&D Learning Community.
  • Select the best authoring technology for cost efficiency, learner engagement, and innovation in e-learning or digital interventions.
  • Manage and lead storyboard design and subsequently manage or coordinate and oversee all programming, build and art direction activities for e-learning/digital content across a broad range of subject matters.
  • Ensure comprehensive quality control and user acceptance testing of all digital learning resources to meet technical standards, SCORM/AICC requirements, code consistency, and brand alignment. This applies to deliverables from internal developers, external vendors, and functional representatives.

Qualification & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Instructional Design/Learning Technologies with at least 5 years work experience in a senior digital design/E-learning role or lower level qualification supplemented by at least 8 years relevant work experience with proven promotion path.
  • Extensive experience of the application of innovative and interactive authoring and learning environment technologies, demonstrated via a strong portfolio of digital learning and communication design campaigns.
  • Proven advanced capability in a wide range of digital authoring and creative design tools, specific experience and advanced proficiency in innovative learning technologies including HTML 5, Adobe Creative Suite including Audition and After Effects, Articulate 360, Rise, gomo, Synthesia, Captivate, and similar market leaders is considered essential.
  • Practical bespoke application of AI tools and workplace AI Applications is a distinct advantage.
  • Expert level understanding of learning theory/pedagogy and its application within digital Instructional Design.
  • High level of self-motivation and creativity, bringing enthusiasm and a solution orientated approach to the role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail supported by good organizational and time management skills Strong written and verbal communications skills. Fluency in English is critical.
