Job Title: Digital - Business Analyst - CIP

Clearance Required: BPSS

Duration: 6 months

Location: London (Hybrid -2 days per week)

Pay Rate: £447 per day all inc. (PAYE through umbrella)

Job Description

The Business Analyst will work primarily with the Tech Lead and Delivery Lead to analyse, document, and inform solutions and processes, engaging with key business and technical stakeholders within Client and across government.

The BA will help provide a holistic understanding of the AttRep service experience both from the perspective of being an end user and the maintainer/owner, and insight into how the services and surrounding processes can be improved.

A key goal for the BA will be to build a detailed picture of the teams stakeholders and users and their day-to-day tasks and interactions with AttRep and their services, and how we can best serve them, through concepts such as user/service journeys, dependency mapping, user profiling etc.

The BAs immediate focus will be to support the rollout of AttRep services to client and other government departments, while supporting the development of new attribute services with their respective data pipelines.

The broader expectation of any Business Analyst joining CIP is that they will identify and support business change through a full software development cycle.

This includes assessing impact, developing features, communicating user stories and overseeing the quality and implementation of solutions.

The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in the delivery, working closely with the Product Owner and other stakeholders to understand and document business needs and opportunities in order to create value for customers of CIP.

  • Knowledge & experience: Experience working as a senior Business Analyst or related role in a highly technical, fast paced commercial environment.

Essential

  • Deep knowledge and advanced experience in developing business and technical user stories with appropriate acceptance criteria
  • Working in a Lean, Agile environment with continuous integration/delivery
  • Demonstrated experience building consensus in team and with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to approach problems creatively and innovative way
  • Understanding of user-centred service design as practised by Government Digital Service
  • Sophisticated understanding social interactions and conflict resolution
  • Experienced in data and business process visualisation
  • Worked with stakeholders to seek out information and evaluate & develop new business ideas
  • Can coordinate with the Tech/Product/Delivery leads on work breakdown and prioritisation
  • Can lead user story mapping and development workshops with the teams
  • Proven ability to monitor and audit data quality and processes, including key performance indicators (eg devops accelerate metrics)

Desirable

  • Experience of Cloud native solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or similar)
  • Worked on or with Infrastructure teams that provide a platform for end users
  • Experience working as a user researcher or service designer
  • Experience working as a tester, software developer or DevOps engineer
  • Working knowledge of the data space (eg data scientist/engineer)
  • Practical exposure of helping structure or implement a Software Development Life Cycle
  • Collaborated with multidisciplinary team(s) to provide data business solutions, including publishing data and sharing data through file processes and APIs
  • Previous experience on a Client project or tax domain knowledge

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation
  • Advanced workshop/group facilitation skills, especially working with remote teams and stakeholders
  • Advanced scoping and estimation techniques
  • Jira & Confluence
  • Collaborative business visualisation tools (eg, Miro, etc.)
  • Experience analysing data

Desirable

  • Kibana/Grafana (equivalent)
  • Superset
  • GitHub
  • SQL queries
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Native PaaSs
