Summary: The role of DevSecOps Engineer is a 6-month contract position within the public sector, based in Birmingham, requiring active SC clearance. The successful candidate will work on upgrading and enhancing a reporting tool, leveraging their expertise in Azure and various technical domains. The position demands a self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple projects in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade and enhance a reporting tool for a public sector client.
  • Utilize Azure services, specifically PaaS and IaaS, for migration and refactoring.
  • Work with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Manage networking, applications, databases, integration/APIs, infrastructure, and software development tasks.
  • Develop and maintain YAML pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Implement containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like ARM (Bicep) and Terraform.
  • Write scripts in PowerShell and Bash.
  • Use source control systems like GitHub and project management tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Assess and formulate plans for improvement in technical processes.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Azure PaaS and IaaS, particularly migration and refactoring.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of networking, applications, databases, integration/APIs, and software development.
  • Background in software development, particularly with .NET.
  • Experience with SQL and Postgres databases.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and Azure DevOps.
  • Containerization experience, specifically with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM (Bicep) and Terraform.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell and Bash.
  • Experience with source control (GitHub) and project management tools (JIRA, Confluence).

DevSecOps Engineer

Our public sector client is looking for an experienced and SC Cleared DevSecOps Engineer to join them and work on a crucial project where they are upgrading and enhancing a reporting tool.

Technical Experience

Experienced in Azure - specifically PaaS and IaaS, in particular experience in IaaS to PaaS migration and refactor.

Experienced in both Windows and Linux OS.

Experienced in Networking, Applications, Databases, Integration/API's, Infrastructure, Software Development.

Background in software development is advantageous, particularly .NET

Experienced in SQL and Postgres

Experienced in DevOps, comfortable using Azure Dev Ops and writing yaml pipelines

Experienced in containerisation - Docker (Kubernetes*)

Experienced in IaC - primarily/minimum of ARM (Bicep), Terraform advantageous

Scripting skills - powershell, Bash

Experienced in source control - GitHub

Experienced using JIRA and Confluence

Experience of virtualisation advantageous

We are looking for someone who is:

A self starter, able to work with minimal supervision and direction.

Analytical and inquisitive, focus on attention to detail - able to assess, formulate and mobilise a plan. Capability to highlight areas of improvement and put forward suggestions/plans to facilitate.

Ability to work across multiple pieces of work/projects concurrently and context switch at short notice when priorities/delivery dates dictate.

Ability to translate complex technical requirements or issues into simple layman's terminology for key stakeholders.

Comfortable working in an Agile environment.
