Summary: The AWS DevOps Engineer role involves upgrading the Elastic DP estate to Kubernetes and enhancing platform stability and observability. The position requires a strong background in production application support within AWS, focusing on automation and cloud technologies to facilitate DevOps tooling growth. The candidate will also be responsible for CI/CD pipeline support, incident management, and on-call support. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in upgrading the Elastic DP estate to Kubernetes and RHEL 8.
  • Support continuous integration, development, build, and deployment using automation and cloud technologies.
  • Manage deployments and releases of applications and infrastructure in production.
  • Provide CI/CD pipeline support and on-call support on a rotational basis.
  • Migrate existing applications to Cloud and build new applications on Cloud.
  • Build automation jobs for CI/CD development, build, and deployment of applications on Cloud.
  • Support Cloud platforms and complex multi-tiered infrastructure environments.
  • Identify improvements using initiative and work with multiple teams to resolve issues.
  • Build and support test environments and resolve issues.

Key Skills:

  • Strong scripting and integration skills (e.g., Shell, Python, Chef, Perl).
  • Experience with DevOps tooling (Bitbucket, Jenkins, Nexus, Sonarqube, JIRA, Stash, GIT, TeamCity, Nolio).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (Open Shift, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
  • Strong Jenkins experience managing continuous integration.
  • Good knowledge of micro-service architecture APIs and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory authentication and integration.
  • Understanding of code quality and security gates (Sonarqube).
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.

Rate: up to £404.80 p/d Umbrella inside IR35

Job Description

This resource is required to assist in upgrading the Elastic DP estate to Kubernetes thereby moving away from Obsolete technology (Cloudera), uplifting to RHEL 8, contributing towards improving stability and observability of the platform and providing advanced analytics tooling and services for modelling analytics

Role Purpose / Summary

Working across continuous integration, development, build and deployment using automation & cloud technologies to support the growth of DevOps tooling. Candidate must be from support background - L2/L3. experience in production application support in AWS. Experience in incident and change management Would require to deployments and release of application and infra in production by following run books Must be good with CI/CD pipeline support, DevOps & Java Should be available for on-call support on rotational basis Need to be proactive. Excellent communication & stakeholder management Migration of existing applications to Cloud and the Build of new applications on Cloud Build automation jobs for CI/CD development, build and deployment of applications on Cloud. Build and support Cloud platforms(Internal/external) and complex multi-tiered, infrastructure environments. Working with cutting edge CI/CD technologies, using your initiative to identify improvements and work with multiple teams to see these through to resolution. Working with a broad Infrastructure technology stack including LinUI, Windows, RDBMS, Networks, JBOSS, Micro-Service Architecture. Test environment build, support & issue resolution Seamless DevOps delivery of infrastructure change from development through to production

Essential Skills
