Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance internal SDLC tools and developer platforms
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams on agile projects
  • Help build scalable development environments in private/public cloud infrastructure
  • Contribute to improving build automation, source control integration, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Evaluate and implement best practices for software development environments
  • Support developer enablement by integrating tools into IDES and development workflows

Key Skills:

  • Strong development experience in Python
  • Familiarity with modern SDLC tooling (e.g., Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, Azure DevOps, Github Actions)
  • Exposure to multiple tech stacks (e.g., Java, C#, or TypeScript is a plus)
  • Experience with large-scale, distributed development environments
  • Strong understanding of development practices and the software lifecycle

Job Title: Python DevOps/Developer - Glasgow - 3 days Hybrid - PAYE Contract

We are currently seeking a hands-on Python developer to join a global financial services institution's internal development tools and systems team. This team is responsible for shaping the software development lifecycle (SDLC) used by over 20,000 developers across the firm. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of development tooling, collaborating with a global team to modernise and scale internal platforms across private and public cloud environments.

About the Role

This role offers the chance to influence the next generation of development tooling and practices for the firm's engineering community. You will contribute to the buildout and integration of modern tools used for source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes. This position is ideal for developers passionate about engineering productivity, automation, and tooling. Candidates from software product companies or SaaS environments are welcome - financial industry experience is not required.

  • Experience with deployment orchestration (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)

Work Environment & Flexibility

Location: Glasgow

Hybrid model: 3 days in office, up to 2 days remote

Contract: PAYE via an umbrella company
