Summary: The role of DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure Specialist (AWS) involves supporting the High-Level Design and prototyping phase of a Government Move to Cloud programme, focusing on modernising a database platform. The position requires enabling cloud-native DevOps capabilities, containerisation, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure-as-code implementation. Candidates will primarily work remotely but must be willing to work onsite up to 2 days per week in Manchester, Newcastle, or occasionally London. The base location will align with the nearest consulting office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (GitOps) and Helm
  • Develop and optimise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Support containerisation and migration of legacy batch components into Kubernetes environments
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to improve deployment and operational processes
  • Manage version control systems, artifact repositories, and pipeline integrations
  • Ensure AWS best practices for scalability, reliability, and security
  • Contribute to automation-first DevOps delivery approach

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience in DevOps and automation-led delivery models
  • Proven expertise with: GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, Helm, GitOps methodologies
  • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience

Role Overview We are hiring a DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure Specialist (AWS) to support the High-Level Design (HLD) and prototyping phase of a major Government Move to Cloud programme , focused on modernising a database platform. This role will play a key part in enabling cloud-native DevOps capabilities, containerisation, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure-as-code implementation as part of a large transformation initiative. The client is primarily based in Manchester and Newcastle . While most work will be remote, candidates must be willing to work onsite up to 2 days per week in Manchester, Newcastle, or occasionally London as required by the programme. Base location will align with the nearest consulting office.
