Summary: The role of DevOps Engineer – Infrastructure Specialist (AWS) involves supporting the High-Level Design and prototyping phase of a Government Move to Cloud programme, focusing on modernising a database platform. The position requires enabling cloud-native DevOps capabilities, containerisation, CI/CD automation, and infrastructure-as-code implementation. Candidates will primarily work remotely but must be willing to work onsite up to 2 days per week in Manchester, Newcastle, or occasionally London. The base location will align with the nearest consulting office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (GitOps) and Helm
- Develop and optimise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Support containerisation and migration of legacy batch components into Kubernetes environments
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to improve deployment and operational processes
- Manage version control systems, artifact repositories, and pipeline integrations
- Ensure AWS best practices for scalability, reliability, and security
- Contribute to automation-first DevOps delivery approach
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience in DevOps and automation-led delivery models
- Proven expertise with: GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, Helm, GitOps methodologies
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
- Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised workloads
- Solid understanding of AWS cloud services and cloud architecture principles

The client is primarily based in Manchester and Newcastle .
