Summary: The Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer role focuses on enhancing platform reliability and operations within a large-scale enterprise environment, specifically utilizing GCP and Kubernetes. This hands-on position involves collaboration with various teams to support and improve cloud infrastructure and container platforms. The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting production issues and managing CI/CD automation workflows. The role is a long-term contract classified as inside IR35, requiring on-site presence two days a week in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting and improving Kubernetes and GCP platform infrastructure
- Troubleshooting complex production and networking issues
- Managing and improving CI/CD and automation workflows
- Working closely with engineering teams to improve reliability and scalability
- Supporting platform upgrades, deployments and infrastructure changes
- Driving observability, monitoring and operational improvements
- Helping improve security, resilience and platform performance across cloud-native systems
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with GCP and GKE
- Strong Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting experience
- Experience working with Istio / service mesh environments
- Strong understanding of networking, ingress/egress traffic flow, firewalls and load balancing
- Experience with TLS/mTLS, certificate management and secure application communication
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience
- CI/CD pipeline engineering experience using Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Strong Linux administration and Bash/Python scripting skills
- Experience with monitoring, observability and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace or ELK
- Experience troubleshooting live production issues across cloud-native environments
- Strong understanding of ConfigMaps, Secrets, HPA, PDBs and Kubernetes workloads
- Experience working within DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering teams
- Nice to Have: Experience with HashiCorp Vault, Kafka or event-driven architecture exposure, Banking or regulated enterprise environment experience, DevSecOps / security tooling experience, GitOps / ArgoCD exposure

Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer – GCP / Kubernetes Manchester (2 days per week onsite) Long-Term Contract Inside IR35 We’re supporting a large-scale enterprise platform team currently looking for a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer with strong experience across GCP, Kubernetes and modern cloud-native infrastructure environments. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on platform reliability, Kubernetes operations, cloud networking, CI/CD automation and production troubleshooting within a highly scalable environment.
