Summary: The Staff / Senior DevOps Engineer role involves building and managing pipelines, driving infrastructure automation, and ensuring deployment reliability for a robotics scale-up. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and run pipelines for deployment reliability.
- Drive infrastructure automation.
- Design and own CI/CD processes, including release automation and rollback strategies.
- Utilize Docker for container management and environment promotion.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Ansible.
- Monitor, alert, and maintain cost awareness in cloud infrastructure.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proficiency in CI/CD design and ownership.
- Experience with Docker and container registries.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting systems.
- Experience with security in pipelines (SAST/DAST, SBOM) is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-paced environment.

Staff / Senior DevOps Engineer | 6-Month (Outside IR35) | £600 - 800 Per/Day | 3 Days per Week (London) Burns Sheehan are working with a fast-growing robotics scale-up who are delivering a key customer project with a major milestone due March 2025. To hit this, they’re bringing in experienced contractors who can make an immediate impact. As the Staff / Senior DevOps Engineer , you’ll be responsible for building and running pipelines, driving infrastructure automation, and ensuring deployment reliability. This is a hands-on role requiring someone comfortable working at pace, with low ramp-up and high autonomy. In this role you’ll need strong experience with:
- Cloud infrastructure exposure (AWS ideally but happy with GCP / Azure),
- CI/CD design and ownership, including release automation and rollback strategies
- Docker (containers, registries, environment promotion across development / product)
- Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) and cloud provisioning
- Monitoring, alerting, and cost awareness
It would also be useful if you have:
- Experience with security in pipelines (SAST/DAST, SBOM)
- Exposure to wider platform / DevOps tooling
Traits we’re looking for:
- Strong bias to action, able to diagnose and resolve blockers independently
- Comfortable in a high-pace scale-up/start-up environment
