Summary: The DevOps Engineer role is a permanent position based in Birmingham, requiring AWS expertise and active SC & NPPV3 clearance. The position involves significant travel to Birmingham, with an immediate start expected in May/June 2025. The successful candidate will work on large-scale IT projects for the public sector within a leading digital transformation business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions with a focus on security best practices.
- Provision infrastructure using Terraform and manage VMs with tools like Vagrant.
- Ensure 24×7 uptime in an AWS environment, utilizing automation and configuration management tools.
- Implement strong scripting and automation skills across various programming languages.
- Manage Jenkins and pipeline processes using Groovy script.
- Utilize Docker containers and Amazon Linux 2023 AMI.
- Monitor systems using tools such as Grafana, Alert Manager, Prometheus, and Node exporter.
- Handle incident and change management with Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Maintain active SC Clearance & NPPV3 throughout employment.
Key Skills:
- Experience with AWS technologies (e.g., EC2, RDS, ELB, EBS, EFS, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS).
- Proficiency in Terraform and Vagrant for infrastructure provisioning.
- DevOps experience in a 24×7 AWS environment.
- Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, PowerShell, Perl, JAVA.
- Knowledge of Jenkins and Groovy scripting for CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Docker and Amazon Linux 2023 AMI.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.).
- Proficient in Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Active SC Clearance & NPPV3 required.
