Summary: The role of DevOps Engineer involves designing, building, and operating secure and scalable cloud platforms for a public sector organization. The position requires hands-on experience with AWS EKS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD, along with a strong focus on security. The engineer will also mentor other engineers and contribute to architecture and platform improvements. This is a 6-month contract based in Glasgow, offering a competitive rate outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud platforms.
- Work hands-on with AWS EKS, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, and CI/CD.
- Support delivery teams and mentor engineers.
- Contribute to architecture, POCs, and platform improvements.
- Ensure strong security practices, including mTLS and secrets management.
- Perform some out-of-hours work around releases.
Key Skills:
- Senior DevOps/Platform Engineering background (5+ years).
- Expert Kubernetes build & operate experience on AWS EKS.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of service mesh (Istio) and secure cloud design.
- Experience supporting Spring Boot/Java applications.
- Eligibility for SC clearance.
