Summary: The role of Contract DevOps Engineer focuses on leveraging Terraform and AWS to support the build, deployment, and operation of a cloud-based platform. The position requires strong infrastructure management, CI/CD pipeline reliability, and experience with event streaming technologies like Amazon Kinesis. The engineer will work part-time, primarily on-site in London, and will be responsible for troubleshooting, incident management, and ensuring platform stability. This role is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform
- Support environment setup, configuration, and readiness
- Manage IAM roles, networking, and secure access controls
- Handle secrets, certificates, and platform configuration
- Support provisioning and maintenance of AWS services
- Work with event streaming solutions (Kinesis or similar)
- Assist with architectural decisions where required
- Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues (build failures, vulnerabilities, artefact issues)
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines for feature-level deployments
- Ensure reliable and repeatable deployment processes
- Investigate and triage platform issues and failures
- Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with relevant teams
- Unblock infrastructure-related issues impacting delivery
- Support monitoring and alerting for platform services
- Work with Ops teams to ensure high availability and reliability
- Contribute to ongoing platform stability improvements
- Support integration with upstream/downstream systems
- Assist with performance testing (including latency improvements where required)
- Contribute reusable components, utilities, and best practices
- Provide documentation and handover to operations teams
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform (modular infrastructure preferred)
- Solid experience with AWS (IAM, networking, core services)
- Experience troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines
- Background in DevOps / Platform Engineering roles
- Strong problem-solving and incident triage skills
