Purpose of job

We are looking for an exceptional Development Executive to join the creative team behind Red Nose Day.

This is a rare opportunity to help evolve one of Britain's most loved fundraising events. We're looking for a highly creative, audience-obsessed development expert who can generate and deliver ambitious ideas that stop people in their tracks, create genuine buzz and make Red Nose Day feel unmissable. Working closely with Comic Relief and BBC Studios, you’ll help shape a night of television that surprises audiences, sparks conversation and delivers joyful, impactful fundraising at scale. Interviews are expected to take place w/c 24/08/2026.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop original entertainment ideas, formats, live moments, large-scale stunts and high-impact audience experiences for Comic Relief.
  • Generate concepts that feel culturally relevant, socially shareable and capable of capturing national attention.
  • Identify emerging trends, talent and opportunities that keep Comic Relief fresh, contemporary and unpredictable.
  • Explore emerging technologies, innovative creative tools and production techniques that could help bring ambitious ideas and large-scale stunts to life.
  • Produce high-quality pitch documents, treatments and presentations.
  • Contribute to the overall creative vision and evolution of the Comic Relief brand on screen.
  • Ensure creative output aligns with Comic Relief's values, campaigns and fundraising objectives.

Person specification

Essential criteria

Has a proven track record in entertainment development for broadcast television, streaming or major live events.

Thinks big and generates ideas that audiences will genuinely talk about.

Understands what drives engagement across television, social and digital platforms.

Has excellent creative instincts and strong editorial judgement.

Desirable criteria

Is curious about popular culture and constantly looking for the next big idea, spotting opportunities, trends and talent before they become mainstream.

Understands how technology, innovation and production craft can unlock ambitious creative ideas and deliver stand-out television moments.

Thrives working in fast-paced creative environments and enjoys collaborating with others.

Contract

We are seeking a London or Salford based candidate to begin imminently, initially on a part-time basis with a view to increasing to full time later as production moves towards Red Nose Day.
