Summary: The Development and Production Test Engineer role at a prestigious Ministry of Defence organisation in the UK involves supporting the testing and diagnostics of electrical/electronic sub-systems and circuit cards during production. The position requires collaboration with a team to ensure manufacturing targets are met in terms of time, cost, and quality. Candidates must possess a strong background in Electronic/Electrical engineering and relevant qualifications. Security clearance is required for successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide test engineering support to operators on the shop floor, including the introduction of new test equipment.
- Test and diagnose complex electrical/electronic systems, sub-assemblies, and circuit cards down to the component level.
- Generate test specifications, operator instructions, and technical reports based on higher-level requirements and information.
- Promptly identify remedial and corrective actions to ensure manufacturing continues in line with the programme following production test failures.
- Support meetings with Quality and Operations to provide status updates on test engineering actions and investigations.
Key Skills:
- Minimum HNC level of Engineering qualifications or equivalent.
- Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles, and fault diagnosis techniques, with demonstrable experience down to component level.
- Awareness of electrical/electronic sub-system and system design, integration and test principles.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.
- Ability to plan and organise one's work according to assigned priorities.
- Knowledge of RF and Microwave technology at the subsystem level (advantageous).
- Experience in operating manual and automated test equipment in an Electronics Manufacturing environment (advantageous).
