Desktop Support Engineer (Field-Based)

Our client, a well-established manufacturing group, is looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to support a focused end-user device rebuild project across multiple sites.

This is a great opportunity for a field-based support specialist to take ownership of local deployment work, coordinate directly with project stakeholders, and deliver a smooth device rebuild experience for end users.

Travel expenses and accommodation for overnight stays are covered.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination and execution of end-user device rebuild activity across an agreed site sequence
  • Work closely with project managers, technical leads and local site contacts to coordinate user availability, device readiness and rebuild schedules
  • Rebuild, configure and validate end-user devices in line with agreed build processes and standards
  • Provide hands-on desktop support during deployment, including troubleshooting hardware, operating system, application, connectivity and user access issues
  • Ensure devices are correctly assigned, documented, tested and handed back to users with minimal disruption
  • Maintain accurate progress updates, issue logs, asset details and rebuild status information
  • Escalate technical blockers, delivery risks or scheduling conflicts to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Support post-rebuild floorwalking and user assistance to ensure a smooth transition

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Desktop Support Engineer, EUC Engineer, Deskside Support or similar field-based IT support role
  • Strong hands-on experience rebuilding, configuring and supporting Windows end-user devices
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Windows 10/11 and endpoint management processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, peripheral and user profile issues
  • Experience supporting deployment, refresh, migration or device rebuild projects highly beneficial
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activity across multiple users, devices and locations
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with end users, technical teams and project stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence, access to a car, and willingness to travel between sites, including overnight stays where required
