Desktop Support Engineer (CTC/SC Cleared) - 7-9 Month Contract - Reading
Summary: The Desktop Support Engineer role is a contracting position based in Reading, focusing on the deployment and support of enterprise laptop hardware. Candidates must possess valid CTC or SC clearance, as contracts will be awarded only after successful clearance checks. The position involves device deployment, post-build validation, and user support across multiple client locations in the UK. This is a fully office-based role for a duration of 7 to 9 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, record, and stage laptops at central and distribution sites
- Deploy OS images using SCCM Task Sequences and configure endpoint hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals)
- Perform post-build checks (boot, login, network, application access) and capture test evidence using agreed checklists
- Conduct physical device handover using approved checklists, providing basic user guidance and onboarding support
- Update asset tracking systems and maintain chain-of-custody records and deployment logs
- Resolve basic deployment and hardware issues, escalating complex issues to SOE/Imaging SME
Key Skills:
- CTC or SC clearance - mandatory, valid and transferable; contract award subject to clearance checks
- Experience in desktop support/EUC deployment roles
- Hands-on laptop deployment experience
- Basic SCCM imaging execution knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting and user support skills
- Large-scale device rollout experience - preferred

Contracting role based in Reading and nearby sites (fully office-based) for an Enterprise Laptop Hardware (ELH) Device Deployment & Distribution Programme. Candidates must hold valid, transferable CTC or SC clearance - contracts will only be awarded following successful clearance checks. The role focuses on device deployment, post-build validation, end-user setup, and onsite support across multiple client UK locations.
