Summary: The Desktop Engineer role focuses on supporting a Windows 11 migration project across multiple UK office locations for a 12-month contract. The position requires experienced engineers to handle hardware installations, upgrades, and basic desktop support, along with occasional office clearances. Candidates must be based in the Midlands due to equipment collection requirements and must possess BPSS clearance. The role involves travel across the UK with hotel accommodations provided as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and de-installation of desktop and laptop hardware.
- Support and execution of Windows 11 upgrade and deployment processes.
- Collection and return of IT equipment to/from Midlands-based depots.
- Occasional assistance with office moves and IT equipment clearance.
- Ensure documentation and asset tracking are accurately maintained.
- Liaise with on-site teams and project managers to deliver seamless support.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in desktop engineering roles, including OS migrations (ideally Windows 10 to 11).
- Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and deployment best practices.
- BPSS clearance (or eligibility and willingness to undergo it).
- Full UK driving licence, access to own vehicle and willingness to travel UK wide as required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
