Summary: The Desktop Engineer role focuses on supporting a Windows 11 migration project across multiple UK office locations for a 12-month contract. The position requires experienced engineers to handle hardware installations, upgrades, and basic desktop support, along with occasional office clearances. Candidates must be based in the Midlands and possess a full UK driving license for travel. BPSS clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and de-installation of desktop and laptop hardware.
- Support and execution of Windows 11 upgrade and deployment processes.
- Collection and return of IT equipment to/from Midlands-based depots.
- Occasional assistance with office moves and IT equipment clearance.
- Ensure documentation and asset tracking are accurately maintained.
- Liaise with on-site teams and project managers to deliver seamless support.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in desktop engineering roles, including OS migrations (ideally Windows 10 to 11).
- Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and deployment best practices.
- BPSS clearance (or eligibility and willingness to undergo it).
- Full UK driving licence, access to own vehicle and willingness to travel UK wide as required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
