Summary: The Design Project Manager role is a long-term contract position based in South Manchester, focusing on overseeing design processes for civil and industrial buildings. The manager will motivate design teams, ensure timely and high-quality outputs, and maintain compliance with health and safety standards. This position requires collaboration with clients and stakeholders to meet expectations and manage design documentation effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams.
  • Ensuring drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality and are easy to read.
  • Overseeing the design process using technical expertise.
  • Establish and maintain a programme that shows all key design activities and envisaged sign off dates.
  • Establishing a design sign off process for projects within the programme and to capture feedback and ensure the designs are actioned appropriately.
  • Working with the client to ensure that their expectations are met, including stakeholder mapping and setting up collaborative sessions.
  • Being the key point of contact for the most up to date position of designs and maintaining records.
  • Reviewing designs with health and safety in mind alongside PM’s, CM’s and PD.
  • Reviewing designs with the project team to avoid errors and reduce financial risk during construction.
  • Ensuring designs are available to those who need them at the appropriate time.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of the design process, including revisions and sign off.
  • Keeping up-to-date with changing legislation and codes of practice relating to design.
  • Office based role with site visits alongside project teams to understand design development.

  • Motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams.
  • Ensuring drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality and are easy to read.
  • Overseeing the design process using technical expertise.
  • Establish and maintain a programme that shows all key design activities and envisaged sign off dates.
  • Establishing a design sign off process for projects within the programme and to capture feedback and ensure the designs are actioned appropriately.
  • Working with the client to ensure that their expectations are met, this will include stakeholder mapping and setting up various collaborative sessions to ensure designs are delivered correctly first time and relevant feedback is captured and actioned through the design process.
  • To be the key point of contact for the most up to date position of designs and maintain records to this effect.
  • Reviewing designs with health and safety in mind – working alongside the PM’s, CM’s and PD to ensure health and safety is front and centre.
  • Reviewing designs alongside the project team to help avoid errors and reduce financial risk during the construction phase.
  • Ensuring designs are available to those who need them, at the appropriate time – putting in place appropriate controls to ensure only one version of a design is live at any time.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of the design process, inclusive of revisions and design sign off at various stages throughout the project life cycles.
  • Keeping up-to-date with changing legislation and codes of practice relating to design, to ensure the designs are compliant with current standards.
  • Office based role with site visits alongside the project teams to understand the design development of projects.
