Summary: The Design Manager - Water Sector role involves leading multidisciplinary design delivery on water industry projects within an engineering design consultancy. The position offers a stable, long-term contract outside IR35, focusing on managing and developing a team of engineers and CAD technicians. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in regulated sectors and a strong background in team management and development. This role is based in Greater Manchester with hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates
- Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects
- Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team
- Drive the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary
- Ensure design deliverables satisfy safety and quality requirements within agreed timescales
- Ensure the team uses appropriate standards, best practice and software tools
- Assist with estimating hours required for design packages
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in engineering design within regulated sectors (water, rail, oil and gas, nuclear, highways or bridges)
